Google Maps doesn’t work even with inserted API key

Updated: September 1, 2016

If your Google Map still doesn’t work even you’ve inserted Google Maps API key in Theme Options, open browser console on the page where Google Map should be displayed to see error message.

All error messages are listed in official Google documentation page: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages

Most common issues are described below:

  • Google Maps API error: RefererNotAllowedMapError

You’ve defined website URLs in wrong format as HTTP referrer or your website that has problem with Google Map is not defined as HTTP referral at all and has to be added to the list of allowed websites (if you are using HTTP referrals that are allowed to use your API key).

The best format of website url may be: *yourdomain.com/*
