Today we interviewed founder of directory portal called Discover Fresno. It promotes the very best places, good food and events in sunny California.
Tell us your story. Who you are and why have you decided to create a directory portal that helps visitors find various activities in Fresno, California?
I’m Tony Corona I wanted to create a single place where all local digital media can be found, I am passionate about bringing people together through local discovery and about cultivating the right guides, articles, and content for our locals and visitors. If I can do that, I can help grow local businesses which help me grow my business.
We strive to inspire people to get out and explore the best of our city.
Who are your visitors? Local people or mainly tourists?
Which part of your website is the most visited? What are people mostly interested in?
Our events page is the most visited. People are mostly interested in what is locally happening.
If you could choose only one upcoming event (festival, concert or opening) which one would it be?
Taco Truck Throwdown. Last year’s two-day event drew 20,000 people who consumed 50,000 tacos and home to the Major League Eating World Taco-Eating Contest.
Close to Fresno you can find famous national parks such as Yosemite or Sequoia National Park. Which other places visitors definitely shouldn’t miss?
Definitely! Forestiere Underground Gardens. It was built by hand in the early 1900’s by Baldassare Forestiere himself. This National Historic Landmark is a network of underground rooms, courtyards, and passageways.
The Forestiere is without a doubt a scenic dream that is a beautiful experience for everyone.
California is also famous for its quality wines sold all around the world. Which wine type is the most popular?
CRU Winery and their CRŪ® (comprised of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir) and Mariposa wines (blends, include Albarino, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, and Tempranillo). They’ve been recognized in several prestigious competitions throughout the nation including the San Francisco International Wine Competition, Toast of the Coast, International Winemaker Challenge and the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Accolades received include Double Gold, Best of Class, Chairman’s Award, Unanimous Gold and Reserve Champion.
What are your plans to the future?
Our future goal is to become the default digital media platform for locals for things to do. This will empower us to use that buzz from our website and social media to pivot to a mobile app as users are increasing in that sector.
