How to choose a web hosting for your WordPress site

As already mentioned, your website is important for your business and it should have a professional look, with own domain name. That means you have to choose a web hosting company for your WordPress website.

Basic hosting requirements for WordPress:

  • PHP version 5.2.4 or greater
  • MySQL version 5.0 or greater

Recommend is Apache server for running WordPress, but it will do any server that supports PHP and MySQL.

There are thousands of web hosting companies and major of them offer sufficient parameters. You can choose free or paid web hosting. Free web hosting is very attractive, but there are many restrictions in usage – slow speed, compulsory advertising and low parameters. It’s very important to consider all web hosting parameters to avoid malfunction in the future.

We highly recommend choosing a paid web hosting.

What to Consider When Choosing a Web Hosting Company

Storage and Bandwidth

Today it’s not very important, because the most of hosting companies commonly offer unlimited storage for websites and unlimited bandwidth to handle any levels of traffic. It’s still a good idea to check hosting plan and make sure, there are sufficient resources for your website.

Customer Support

Good customer service is a must for your web hosting. If something goes wrong with your website, you will need the support that can help you to keep the functionality of your website. Look for a web hosting company that offers nonstop support (phone, email, live chat).

Web hosting reputation

Reading reviews from web hosting customers is a good way to find out a long time reputation of web hosting company. Some companies can have a very professional looking website or advertisement, but customer’s reviews can say something different. It’s worth to look for positive customer reviews – older and newer entries, which are a proof of long term quality.

Everybody is looking at the lowest price, best a free price, but as already mentioned, you should avoid free web hosting for many reasons. When considering costs, check parameters at first, because it is most important for the functionality of your website. It’s worth to pay a little more than the cheapest plan. It will be enough for all your requirements. Do not expect a huge amount of visitors at beginning and any-time you can update your web hosting plan.
